My search for a spiritual “science”

Sir Francis Bacon, 1561–1626, is best known for leading the scientific revolution with his new “experimentation and observation” theory, which is the way science has been conducted ever since. Using this new method, much progress has occurred in the physical and social sciences.

By experimentation and observation of the physical world, science has learned much and produced benefits for all of humanity, within the physical sciences of: physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, ecology.

Great progress has also resulted by using scientific methods in the social sciences of: cultural (or social) anthropology, sociology, psychology, political science, and economics.

But where is the progress in, the spiritual “sciences”: expanded consciousness, establishing identity and communion with Divinity?”

Regrettably main stream religion does not use a spiritual “science”, but relies upon a belief-based system. I should say those followers in religion that have an exoteric mind-set: the dogmatic fundamentalists, the “faithful.” These are the overwhelming majority of believers – in all religions.

Hence very little progress has been made in interfaith dialogue (among different religions) in establishing any universal principles. Some progress in doctrine has been made in intrafaith discussion (within a similar religion, such as Christianity).

Both interfaith and intrafaith dialogues are filled with disagreements and arguments. I proposed in my book, three principles, a “golden thread” I discovered, that is in agreement in 8 major world religions.

This type of religious disagreement is not found among physical scientists, because it is not belief-based. For example, all chemists, whether Hindu, Buddhist, Christian or atheists all agree on the configuration of a water molecule, how it is made, what are its uses, etc.

Fortunate indeed for humanity’s evolution, there has always been a few of an esoteric mind-set, seeking the spiritual “scientists”, the mystics, the Masters in the past such as: Satya Sai Baba, Buddha, Krishna, Jesus, Vivekananda, Anandamayi Ma, and Yogananda. Some contemporary mystics and Masters are: Sadhguru, Yogiraj, Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, and Swami Yogi Satyam.

As I have stated in my previous posts, I have lived through these mindset and have observed the greatest progress in my happiness, satisfaction, and purpose of life with guidance and blessings of the mystics and Masters.

Spiritual “science” is the search for your cosmic consciousness, your eternal well being, not by believing in dogmatic scripture or compulsively trapped in the ephemeral world, but by seeking within to identify with the Infinite Ocean of Divinity. Jesus said, “the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21) and “ye are gods.” (John 10:34).

This is the way of spiritual Yoga, a scientific system of “experimentation and observation” for expanding and evolving consciousness under the guidance of a Master Yogi.
